  • 1 cup Uncooked Rice
  • 1/4 cup Moong Dal dry roasted and cooked
  • 5 to six cup Milk
  • 2 cup Water
  • 2 cup Jaggery grated
  • 1/2 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 10 Cashewnuts damaged
  • 10 to 12 Raisins
  • 2 tblsp Ghee – 2 tblsp
  • a small pinch Pacha Karpooram (Borneal Flakes)
  • 1/4 tsp Saffron – 1/4 tsp dissolved in 1 tblsp sizzling milk

How you can make Akkaravadisal

  • Boil milk with water in a big pan.

  • When it begins to boil, add the uncooked rice and prepare dinner till thick, stirring once in a while.

  • In a distinct pan, warmth jaggery with little water and prepare dinner until it’s absolutely dissolved.

  • Pressure the jaggery to take away any impurities.

  • Mix the dal, jaggery and rice collectively.

  • Cook dinner over medium flame, stirring often.

  • Add the saffron with the milk and stir properly.

  • Warmth a bit ghee in a small frying pan and fry the cashews and raisins.

  • Add the fried cashews, raisins, cardamom powder and pacha karpooram to the pongal.
